London July 5-7, 2006 -- On the way to Paddington Station - the Marble Arch was designed by John Nash and originally built in 1828 in front of Buckingham Palace as a grand entrance, but proved too narrow for the state carriages. A few decades later it was brought here to Hyde Park where it sits on an island in the middle of traffic, but no traffic going through it.
